Summary of Position

Responsible for measuring and ensuring operational success of Starz’s Digital Platforms’ applications and ancillary systems, improve the efficiency of those systems, identify and address issues, and recommend solutions. 


Aggregate, analyze and report on multiple sources of data for operational purposes. Responsible for full software development life cycle (requirements gathering, developing/designing, testing, deploying) to provide stability and operational success of video and buy flow pipelines and platforms as related to data. Create database develop stored procedures, functions, and triggers. Confirm reporting queries are optimized and tuned for desired performance. Create real time dashboards for observance of the platforms. Ingest data from third party sources and aggregate data from multiple sources to establish a robust reporting platform of operational metrics. Create reports to support the client development and backend services teams to ensure 100% uptime of systems. Confirm all data points are being tracked with accuracy. Serve as subject matter expert cross platform - navigation, content, video, purchase and renew flows, etc. Establish key performance indicators (KPI) for the Digital Platforms team. Provide executives and management with requested reports as they pertain to the Digital Platforms team. Work with internal and external teams in analyzing data in the video production and customer buy flow spaces to assure data quality. Resolve technical issues, log problems and educate at a system level. Escalate related matters to appropriate internal departments. Work closely with the functional departments (Client Developers, UI/UX, Environment team and Backend Services) to attain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the business and new features. Support Customer Care in providing data to support troubleshooting of issues, user information, KPl's. Support Application Engineers in any troubleshooting of the environments. Grow the role to support future road map initiatives. Create documentation and establish process when it comes to accessing of the data and systems which contain the data.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience as a BI Developer, Software Developer, Software Engineer, Data Engineer or a related position. 


Must have experience in: full life cycle software development, requirements gathering, documenting, development, design, testing, and deployment of business intelligence solutions; data warehouse platforms (Google BigQuery, MySQL, SQL server, Amazon AWS, Snowflake, Oracle), including deep query and data mining, creating stored procedures, functions, DBA;  enterprise business intelligence tools, including Tableau and MicroStrategy; analytic Setup and Reporting suites including Conviva and Mix Panel; non-relational databases and mobile (iOS, Android) web, TV and console technologies (Xbox, PS4); demonstrated knowledge of video performance metrics, Web Services and Technologies, including SOAP and REST, XML, Java Script, and JSP; programming languages, including C, C++, VB, Java, J2EE; third party data ingest, aggregation, and integration data pertaining to video production, video playback, customer buy flow experiences, OTT; troubleshooting issues, user information, KPI’s; and performing deep analysis and creating custom reports for determining metrics, behaviors, and key performance indicators of systems.

$112,000 - $120,000 per year
