Coordinator, Accounts Receivable

Summary of Position
Lionsgate Canada’s accounting department is looking for a Coordinator, Accounts Receivable to join the team. Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Team Lead, this challenging and fast paced position requires an individual who is a team player with strong inter-personal and organizational skills, effective attention to detail skills, the ability to problem solve, and adjust work accordingly to adapt to tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Preparing invoices per contract payment terms and forwarding to the appropriate contact/department as required
- Ability to interpret contracts and legal documents.
- Contact customers on a regular basis (or as the need arises) regarding payment status
- Research account disputes and billing discrepancies, and propose possible solutions
- Ensuring any billing process inquiries are handled quickly and efficiently
- Identify delinquent accounts that require escalated action to collect (i.e. seek involvement of the sales team, issue notice of default, legal action)
- Respond to invoice inquiries and requests for further information
- Preparing various reports/analysis related to billing and receivables
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as required
- Provide input to month end processes
- Ensure adherence to SOX controls
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience in the collections field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. You are confident and authoritative when needed but are also sensitive to the client relationship.
- Very strong computer, quantitative and analytical skills required – ability to create schedules from scratch, manipulate large volumes of data into useful reports, pivot tables using Excel, analyze data, etc.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Someone who is a fast learner and self-starter, diligent and reliable, and who takes ownership and pride in their work.
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a time sensitive manner.
- Knowledge of accepted accounting rules and practices and internal controls.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience with SAP, IMP and/or SharePoint is a definite plus
- Experience working with customers in the media, television production and distribution industries is an asset
