Summary of Position:

The STARZ Data Products & Engineering team is seeking a data-driven, detail-oriented product manager to drive adoption of data driven decision making within the organization through the creation of data products and data enablement solutions. You'll be responsible for conducting internal user research, building a roadmap balancing the development of new pipelines and data processing frameworks with the renovation of our entire data warehouse, and driving initiatives to optimize and expand our use of data throughout the organization.

You'll be working directly with stakeholders to gather business requirements, define product requirements and build out user stories. Then work with engineering teams to design solutions, implement the stories, and approve the completed work. You'll be a part of the entire product lifecycle, building out solutions to allow data scientists, engineers, designers, marketers, and other PMs to use data and the tools you envision to improve their daily decision making.

  • Facilitate conversations with stakeholders, conducting user research, assessing opportunities and generating buy-in for data initiatives
  • Champion data literacy within the organization and drive adoption rates while bridging gaps between departments
  • See what's possible and what will soon be possible by taking full advantage of the current and future flow of data within the organization
  • Analyze product features to synthesize a plan for how to use data generated by the product to improve the product
  • Evaluate trade-offs around infrastructure needs, real-time vs. offline model scoring, model retraining timeliness, use of machine learning, data freshness, methods to evaluate success over time, complexity cost of implementing features / developing products, and other key data product decisions
  • Bridge the gap between the collection of data and the use of data by driving the construction and prioritization of a data enablement roadmap
  • Be an active consumer of the data and metrics we create and ensure that they align with the business model and organizational strategy
  • Translate requirements between data scientists, engineers, designers, marketers, and other PMs
  • Build product instrumentation and data storage into acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure that data will be accessible and usable for analysis and modeling as soon as possible
  • Work closely with engineering teams to deliver with quick time-to-market and optimal bandwidth
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
Experience & Skills:
  • 4+ years working directly as a member of a technical team, preferably developing/supporting/innovating for a consumer-facing analytics product and driving significant cross-organizational features to launch
  • BS degree in business or a related field
  • Experience in data science, or data products strongly preferred
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of data and related technologies and a track record of delivering sophisticated data technology stacks that enabled organizations to be more data driven
  • Excel at juggling multiple projects, staying organized and prioritizing deadlines
  • Seasoned in managing timelines, delivery, dependencies, communication across teams
  • Comfortable in a data-driven business environment and able to pivot readily based on real-time data
  • Positive, people-oriented, and energetic attitude
  • Experience with GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations and how they impact data infrastructure / collection implementation
  • Experience working with products integrating machine learning or statistical models, and their evolution in a production environment
  • Experience using SQL to accept data products, define KPIs and track metrics over time
