Summary of Position
Lionsgate Canada’s finance department is actively seeking a Senior Manager, Finance to fill an existing vacancy on the team. Reporting to the Director, Finance this position is responsible for leading the accounting and reporting activities for Lionsgate Canada's film and content assets. This role provides oversight of investment in production (IIP), investment in acquired content (IIC), content amortization, participations, and royalty accounting, while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will serve as a key business partner to finance and operational teams, drive process improvements, support external audits, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end and quarter-end close process for film and content accounting, including the review and approval of film accounting models used to calculate content asset amortization.
- Oversee all investment in production (IIP) and acquired content (IIC), including the review of participations and royalty accrual models.
- Review Intercompany revenue and cost entries to ensure alignment with IP ownership and distribution arrangements.
- Review variance analysis against budget/forecast and reconciliations of key P&L and balance sheet accounts, providing insight and commentary to senior management.
- Prepare and review quarterly financial reporting schedules, analyses, and management reporting packages for senior leadership.
- Own the design and execution of internal controls for the film and content accounting processes and act as a primary point of contact in supporting external audit processes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide clarity on general ledger balances and identify, and lead initiatives to streamline, standardize, and automate reporting processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a Senior Accountant through coaching, performance management, workload planning, and ongoing professional development.
- Lead and support special projects and ad hoc analyses as required by senior leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required.
- Minimum 5-8 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including direct people-management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading month-end and quarter-end close processes within a complex accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience within film, television, media, entertainment, or content accounting environments strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead a team through close cycles and communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Advanced Excel skills including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and financial modelling; experience with reporting and data visualization tools is an asset.
- Experience with SAP ERP systems and SAP Analysis for Office (or similar financial reporting tools) is an asset.
- Strong analytical, planning, prioritization, and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong work ethic, leadership presence, and positive team attitude.
