Summary of Position
The Head of Physical Production will lead all aspects of physical production and post-production across Lionsgate Canada's television slate, overseeing projects from development through final delivery. This role serves as a key production leadership position, partnering closely with internal teams, producers, production companies, broadcasters, studios, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure productions are executed efficiently, creatively, and within approved financial parameters.
The successful candidate will be a strategic, solutions-oriented production executive with extensive experience managing complex productions. They will possess deep expertise in budgeting, scheduling, and production operations, combined with hands-on production experience in both studio and field environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high-quality productions on time, on budget, and in compliance with industry, legal, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all phases of physical production and post-production, from budgeting and pre-production through delivery.
- Provide studio oversight across a diverse slate of television projects spanning multiple networks, platforms, and production partners.
- Develop, review, and approve production budgets, schedules, cash flows, cost reports, and hot cost tracking to ensure financial accountability and production efficiency.
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and management of key production personnel, including line producers, production executives, directors, producers, and department heads.
- Lead and mentor members of the production team, ensuring effective communication, information flow, and project coordination across multiple productions.
- Establish and maintain production schedules, timelines, and tracking systems to ensure timely execution and delivery.
- Partner closely with Production Accounting and Finance teams to monitor production expenditures, forecast risks, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with Business Affairs and Legal teams to support contracting, deal tracking, rights management, and compliance requirements.
- Negotiate and manage production agreements, vendor relationships, and strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
- Evaluate production locations and work with Finance teams to identify, maximize, and secure domestic and international tax incentives and funding opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards, insurance requirements, regulatory obligations, and industry best practices.
- Proactively identify production challenges and implement effective solutions, communicating key developments to internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Post-Production, Creative, Business Affairs, Finance, and external production teams to align schedules, workflows, and delivery requirements.
- Maintain strong industry relationships and stay informed on emerging production practices, technologies, and market trends.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in physical production within film and/or television, including experience as a Line Producer, Production Supervisor, Production Executive, or equivalent leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise managing scripted television productions; experience with comedy, drama, and premium content preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of production budgeting, scheduling, cost reporting, production operations, and delivery workflows.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and international production practices, including tax incentives, co-productions, and financing structures.
- Working knowledge of major industry unions and guilds, including IATSE, DGC/DGA, WGC/WGA, Teamsters, SAG-AFTRA, and related labour agreements.
- Experience partnering with Legal, Business Affairs, and Clearance teams on production-related matters.
- Proven success leading multiple concurrent productions while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience building, mentoring, and managing high-performing production teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Movie Magic Budgeting, Movie Magic Scheduling, and Final Draft.
- Knowledge of post-production workflows and delivery requirements.
- Established network of relationships within the Canadian television production community, including producers, production companies, talent representatives, crew, and key industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment.
- International production experience and co-production experience strongly preferred.
