Summary of Position

Lionsgate Canada is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director, Global Rights Strategy & Partnerships to oversee the evaluation, acquisition, and management of third-party film and television library content. This role will play a critical part in shaping Lionsgate’s content portfolio by identifying opportunities, negotiating deals, and ensuring smooth integration of acquired assets into our business operations. The Director will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maximize the value of our 20,000+ title library and support revenue growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, evaluation, and prioritization of third-party film and TV library acquisitions and renewals.
  • Oversee title review processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives and sales opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales to analyze content performance and forecast potential revenue impact of acquisitions.
  • Manage deal negotiations with distributors, studios, and rights holders.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Rights Management, and Royalties teams to structure, close, and operationalize agreements.
  • Oversee the ingestion and integration of acquired content into company systems and workflows.
  • Provide clear and timely communication of acquisition outcomes and strategic updates to Sales and other relevant teams.
  • Monitor industry trends, market shifts, and competitor activity to inform acquisition strategy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Media, or related field (MBA or equivalent an asset).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in content acquisition, distribution, or related roles in the film/TV/media industry.
  • Strong understanding of distribution models, content sales, and rights management.
  • Proven experience structuring and negotiating complex licensing and acquisition deals.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to conduct deal and revenue analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Established industry relationships with content owners, distributors, and studios is an asset.
