Job Title: Senior Director, Worldwide Publicity

Summary of Position
The Senior Director, Worldwide Publicity will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Worldwide Publicity, serving as a key strategic partner in developing and executing comprehensive global publicity campaigns for Lionsgate theatrical releases throughout the full lifecycle of each film. The role will work closely with the SVP to drive campaign strategy and execution while providing leadership and support across the Worldwide Publicity team.
Responsibilities
- Serve as publicity campaign lead under the strategic direction of the SVP, Worldwide Publicity, developing and executing global theatrical publicity campaigns for assigned titles from production through Home Entertainment. Act as a key deputy to the SVP when needed or when they’re unavailable, Senior Director is able to step in & drive strategic decision-making, priorities and cross-functional alignment
- Serve as filmmaker, studio executive & comms back up contact to SVP while regularly delivering updates 1-2 levels up from SVP
- Oversee and assist in campaign/filmmaker timelines, key dates memos, date/release announcement grids & campaign budgets
- Owns major campaign beats, watersfalls information from SVP & provides direction to team and agencies to assure tasks and deadlines are met or adjusted accordingly to meet/complete each assignment and goal
- Evaluate demographics of a diverse film slate with Global Publicity team/Visual Communications team to strategize and develope messaging points, press pitches, epk/bts assets, press blasts and photos as well as production notes for each film
- Partner with the SVP Worldwide Publicity, SVP Field & Events and International Specialist to develop global campaign strategy and align key priorities across internal teams, international distributors, and national, faith-based, multicultural and specialty agencies for assigned films
- Collaborate with Strategy, Digital, Media, Creative and cross-functional teams, serving as a key filmmaker/talent spokes-person to manage requests and secure approvals for Content Days, set visits, junkets, press tours and other campaign activities
- Organizes, contributes and advises on overall scheduling, travel, grooming, and security for all talent press activities and oversee creation of all talent schedules with Publicity Assistant, ensuring all information is accurate and current
- Oversee and build the Publicity section in Filmmaker Decks and present accordingly along with the SVP Worldwide
- Guide talent, filmmakers and their representatives on publicity strategy and messaging, developing tailored talking points for press appearances to maximize campaign impact across outlets
- Escort talent to all campaign activity: talk show appearances, press junkets, premieres, PA Tours, film festivals & conventions, award shows, editorial & creative shoots, set visits. Must proactively anticipate talent needs during all appearances while managing press concepts, occasionally having to intervene and keep talent on message or manage inappropriate press conduct
- Pitch film, talent and film assets to national broadcast shows [entertainment & talk shows] and top tier national print publications, and subsequently negotiate extent of press coverage
- Oversee on-set press requests with Unit Publicist and manage all filmmaker, executive and talent approvals
- Responsible point of contact for all music related initiatives both internal and external [artists, soundtrack, score, etc.]
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in a marketing and/or publicity capacity
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related degree
- Willingness to work overtime and be flexible with hours
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Superior communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deal with deadline pressure.
