Job Title: Manager, Participations

Summary of Position
The Manager, Participations is responsible for overseeing the preparation, review, and issuance of participation statements to ensure contractual compliance, accuracy, and timeliness. This role serves as a technical and people leader—reviewing work prepared by analysts, training and mentoring staff, and directly preparing complex participation statements that require advanced judgment and expertise.
The Manager acts as a key quality-control layer within the department, ensuring that participation reporting reflects deal terms accurately and is consistent with internal standards, policies, and reporting practices.
Responsibilities
- Review participation statements prepared by analysts to ensure accuracy, contractual compliance, and adherence to departmental standards
- Prepare participation statements, as needed
- Interpret and assess contracts for participations subject-related matter
- Serve as an escalation point for complex deal structures, participant inquiries, and internal questions from Legal, Finance, and Accounting
- Train, coach, and develop analysts, providing technical guidance and helping build subject-matter expertise across the team
- Lead analysts through issue resolution, statement corrections, and interpretation of participation agreements
- Test and implement process improvements, efficiency, and standardization
- Responsible for special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, participations and/or residuals is a plus
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly when applying contractual language to real-world financial scenarios
- Advanced analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail; consistently able to review analyst work critically and ensure accuracy under tight reporting deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Accounting) and respond to participant or auditor inquiries as needed
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict contractual deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, nested logic, pivot tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, and large dataset reconciliation
